Blog Challenge: Great Adventure #15

This post is late again, I am a terrible time keeper. In my defence, I have been on holiday for a week and had so much work to organise before leaving that I didn’t quite get round to documenting any of our adventures. We went on a few woodland walks, and spent some time in the local parks, but I failed to photograph any of our outings.

On the way back from our holiday, we stayed overnight in Milton Keynes and decided to have an impromptu great adventure to make up for my missed post. We walked to the local pub for some food, and were surprised to find vegan options on the menu, and after filling up, we walked back to the campsite.

We walked along country lanes, under bridges and past blackberry bushes. Ebony loves stopping to pick food from the bushes after last week’s great adventure, although I have to keep an eye on her to make sure she’s not about to chomp down on something poisonous. Think I need to start carrying a foraging book with me at all times, just in case.

There were some sycamore trees, so Laurie spent some time showing Ebony how the seeds spin as they fall. She had a go at throwing a few helicopter seeds herself, although didn’t achieve quite the same effect. The past few adventures, I have noticed that she is more interested in the little details we spot along the way. The conkers, the helicopters and the caterpillars are all amongst the highlights holding her attention as we explore.

On our quest for blackberries, I walked through some stinging nettles. I found a dock leaf to apply, but then had to sit down for five minutes while Ebony rubbed all manner of leaves across my leg. She wouldn’t let me get up, and wouldn’t use a dock leaf, but it seemed to do the trick anyway.

Read this post to find out why I challenged myself to a year of great adventures.

Have you been on any adventures this week?
